Glitter Grunge (Born Pretty Store Review)

Hello everyone! Today I have a review of the loose glitters sold by the Born Pretty Store.

For this nail art look, I painted my nails with OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and then used the seran wrap technique with China Glaze Liquid Leather. I used a topcoat to make it all nice and smooth and picked up the glitter with a dotting tool dipped in water and placed it where I wanted it on the nail. I finished it all off with another coat of topcoat.

I like to call it glitter grunge :P I also had a difficult time photographing these glitters, they're not as silver as they appear in the photo, maybe a little more like a gun metal.

The Born Pretty Store calls these pots of loose glitter "Shiny Glitter Powder Sheets" and you can get 12 different colors for $6.45. I did not receive the exact colors that are shown on the website and some of the colors are pretty similar to one another, but I still think it's a pretty good variety for the cost.

OPI Can't Let Go

Here's a swatch of OPI Can't Let Go, the purple liquid sand from the Mariah Carey collection. This is something that's been sitting on my computer for quite awhile. I was planning on posting after I swatched all of the liquid sands from this collection, but I kind of forgot... whoops!

This was three coats, if I remember correctly. I actually really like it, but it's difficult to see the larger glitters through the multiple coats, which was kind of a bummer.

If by some chance you haven't tried any of the textured polishes out there, you really should. I'm not planning on buying all the textured polishes on the planet (like I did with crackle polishes) but they're still fun and a nice change from regular polish. Plus, at least in person, it really looks like you have sparkly sugar on your nails... Yum!

Born Pretty Store Striping Tape Review

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't posted lately. Today I have a review for you of the striping tape from the Born Pretty Store.

My next couple posts will be guest posts from other blogs, so to keep with that theme, I will be featuring my moms nails today.

For this nail art, I did a gradient using OPI Steady As She Rose and OPI Pink Friday. My original intent was to place the tape, paint another color over top and then remove the tape, revealing the gradient underneath.

When I first attempted to peel off the tape, the layer of paint underneath came with it. I felt like her nails were dry enough, but it's possible they weren't. The tape was also very sticky, so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it either.

Instead I decided to just apply the tape as stripes and leave them on there. I actually think I like this much better than what my original plan was.

I really love how the holographic look of the tape looks when paired with the creme gradient. My mom was quite please as well :)

This is what the one roll of tape looked like. There was a bit more tape when I received it, but I messed around with it some before I took this photo.

The tape was very easy to use, just unroll some, cut it, and place. Like I said, I did have difficulty with using it in such a way that I would be peeling it off to reveal what was underneath, but that could definitely have been user error. For the way I did use it, I just applied a layer of topcoat over it to help it stay longer.

Striping tape can be purchased from the Born Pretty Store for $1.90 a roll or $7.00 for all 12 different colored rolls.

Sorry for my lack of posting lately.

I wanted to apologize for being MIA for the past two weeks or so, my family is going through a rough time right now, and I just haven't had the energy or desire to do my nails. I hope to be back soon (maybe by the end of the week). <3

Did I mention I love etsy? I find myself constantly just browsing all the things people have made, wishing I could purchase them. That's what inspired these nails.

These are Branching Out Toms made by ArtfulSoles. I love them, I want them, I can't afford them, so I put them on my nails instead. That should hold me over from buying them right? I hope so.

This also makes me really want to finish painting my galaxy Toms.

Maybe one day when life is a little less crazy. Now I better get started on my art projects that all happen to be due on the same day. Bye! :)
