Windestine Rainy Day Blues

Hi guys! I've been gone forever, I know. I went the the beach for two weeks and literally, it was the best two weeks I've had in a really long time.

Today I have a swatch of a polish called Rainy Day Blues by Windestine.

This polish has a turquoise jelly base with turquoise hex & bar glitter and microfine holo glitter. Teal is one of my favorite colors so it's clearly a winner in my book.

I used three coats for the photos above and RDB has a very smooth and easy application.

I know this is a rather short post for today, but I'm still unpacking from vacation and getting used to the fact I have to go back to work on Monday, sad face.

Windestine polishes can be purchased on etsy. Have a wonderful weekend :)

HARE polish - Own Your Opulence

I spent about two hours today trying to figure out how to paint my nails. After many failed attempts at nail art, I decided to pair up HARE polish Own Your Opulence with OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. I'm so glad I did!

It is probably an understatement to say I'm in love with this polish. Formula is a little on the thick side (which I think shows on my ring finger) but I just adore this combination of glitter.

Own Your Opulence is a complex mixture of satin pastels in several different shades, juxtaposed with gunmetal grey, black and gold with a gold shimmer. This polish really just has everything I love in a glitter top coat: black, square glitter, and pastels.

Own Your Opulence is a part of HARE polish's Spring 2013 The Last Queen of France collection.

You can purchase HARE Polish on etsy for $10 a bottle, or on llarowe for $11.

'Murrica Tie-Dye

Happy 'Murrica Day! Hope you're having a good one, I'm just so happy I have today and tomorrow off :)

I used today as an excuse to try out Chalkboard Nails' tie-dye nail art tutorial.

I really love how these turned out! I need to try this technique with other color combinations.

I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Julep Char, Julep Delaunay, and little bit of Pure Ice Black.

Sorry for the short post, but I'm sitting out by the pool as I type this and the water is calling my name!

Happy Fourth of July regardless of where you are from :)

Rosy Posy

Honestly, I think I need to hire someone just to come up with titles for my posts, so excuse my cheesiness please :)

Today I have a review of caviar beads from the Born Pretty Store.

Instead of covering my nails with the beads, I decided to just use them as little gold "studs" in my nail art design.

I'm really really quite pleased with how these turned out. At first I wasn't sure if I liked the colors I chose, but I think they ended up working nicely with each other.

I really just love using the caviar beads as "studs" as well. You would consider them studs, right? Maybe? Well that's what I'm calling them for the time being because I literally cannot think of any other name for them.

The caviar beads are $3.33 and come in a container with a different section for each color. The main reason I did not do a standard "caviar mani" was because I felt like there was not enough of a single color to do a whole hand. You could definitely do a pretty skittle mani or even a caviar accent nail. I really like the color selection, and I think they work really well just as "studs" for nail art.

Femme Fatale Sweet Surprise

Happy Sunday everyone! Today I have a swatch of Femme Fatale's Sweet Surprise. This is actually my first FF polish and I definitely feel like I'm going to need to buy more someday.

Sweet Surprise is described as "a pale pink creme with blue undertones, and a scattering of various shapes/sizes in chartreuse, orange pink, white, garnet and purple."

I'm wearing three coats in the photos above and the glitter coverage is really good! No fishing for glitter here!

And here's a macroshot. So pretty O.o

Femme Fatale polishes can be purchased at Femme Fatale Cosmetics and at Llarowe.

I had wanted to do nail art today, but I painted my nails with Julep Madeline recently, a light pink polish with a textured finish, and I'm kind of loving it and it's holding up really well, so I'd hate to remove it before it chips. Hopefully there will be some nail art later in the week :)

Anchors Away!

Three cheers for the corny title!

Today I have some nail art featuring water decals from the Born Pretty Store as well as the colors from my Julep It Girl June box.

The water decals I received are nautical themed, and my June box just so happened to be filled with nautical colors so I thought this was a perfect combination.

First, let's talk about the polish.

Nan is described as a "Nantucket red creme." I didn't realize that was an actual thing until I googled it just now.

Bess is a baby blue creme. Pretty self explanatory.

Char is a jelly-like royal blue. Probably a perfect dupe for Revlon Royal, but I haven't swatched them side-by-side to be able to tell you for sure.

All three of these had a really good formula. My only problem is the smell. I'm not sure if it's just Char or it it's all of them, but if you have Revlon Royal, that's how they smell except it kind of hangs around even after they dry. It's not a horrible smell, but it isn't really super pleasant either. The colors are gorgeous though, and the red is a nice addition to my collection.

I also used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls for the white portions of this mani. Which, of course, it is amazing as always! :)

On to the decals. This is my first time applying water decals and it was fairly easy. I didn't get the one on my middle finger placed exactly where I wanted it (it was meant to be right on top of the white anchor I had hand painted) but the more I look at it, the more that I like that it's off-register. You could definitely do something really fun and creative with these in terms of layering. The only issue I had with these was that the design smeared when I applied topcoat. I wasn't really aware this could happen, so I think it was user error on my part. My topcoat is running low and I didn't quite have enough polish on the brush. As you can see, I didn't smudge the anchor, just the compass.

These decals can be purchased from the Born Pretty Store for $2.86. You get 20 decals in one pack.

My followers can use the code NHL91 to receive 10% off their purchase and don't forget about entering my giveaway for a $20 gift voucher to the Born Pretty Store.

This product was sent to me for review. All of the above statements are my own honest opinions.
