Movember Nails!

Hey everyone! Long time no posting, sorry about that! Hopefully once I graduate I'll be able to post more regularly.

For today's nail art, I have a review of mustache charms from the Born Pretty Store! I've had these for a pretty long time, but was waiting to use them specifically for Movember. If you don't know what  Movember is, feel free to click this link and read about it :) Essentially men grow mustaches to raise awareness for mens health.

For this manicure, I knew I wanted to do some sort of fall plaid and place a mustache on top. It wasn't until I saw Wondrously Polished's plaid nails posted on her Instagram today that I knew what color combination I wanted to use.

Leopard Print + Gradient Tutorial

When I did the 31 Day Challenge, I had someone ask me for a tutorial of this manicure. Here it is!

  1. Start by painting your nails yellow. I used China Glaze Happy Go Lucky. Let this dry completely before going on to the next step.
  2. Create the gradient using a makeup sponge. Paint the colors directly onto the makeup sponge next to each other in stripes (like this). I used China Glaze Happy Go Lucky, Zoya Arizona, and Julep Drew.
  3. Add purple leopard spots using a small striper brush. I used OPI Funky Dunky.
If you have any questions, comment below :)

31DC2012 Day 14: Flowers

Floral print is one of my favorite type of nail designs. They're so easy and they always look awesome! Also, almost halfway done this challenge! Super exciting because balancing this with school is rather difficult.

For this I used Zoya Natty, China Glaze Snow, Butter London Trout Pout, and OPI Mermaid Tears.
Do you have Zoya Natty yet? Because if you don't you need to buy it right now. Go. It is a gorgeous color and the formula is amazeballs. Also, I'm so happy to finally own BL Trout Pout, it has been a lemming of mine for ages.

As always, check out the other amazing ladies doing this challenge.

31DC2012 Day 12: Stripes

Some simple stripes for Day 12 because school is kicking my butt. I have a whole 16 page book to design and put together before my 9:30 class tomorrow morning (it's 10:42 p.m. as I write this). Also I just reallllllyyyy wanted to use the Zoyas I got from my Zoya BOGO purchase.

I think Natty is my new favorite, the formula is awesome, I love dusty blues and ahh so gorgeous.

Look at that bit of purple flash on Gemma, nom. (Is it weird to say 'nom' about nail polish? Oh wellz). Also, I realize this color scheme may be a little strange but I don't care, I like these colors together.

The colors I used are Zoya Gemma, Natty, and Marley.

Check out some other blogzzzz.

31DC2012 Day Four: Green

Okay, I said yesterdays nails were my favorite, but I think I love these wayyy more. Also, I own too many green polishes, I even have tons of green glitters but I was trying to limit it to cremes. I used twelve green polishes all together, and I wouldn't have had to repeat if it wasn't for my thumb.

Here's the long list of polishes used-
Julep: Alma, Courtney, and Emilie.
China Glaze: Four Leaf Clover and Electric Pineapple.
OPI: Did It On 'Em, Jade Is The New Black, Mermaid Tears, Who The Shreck Are You?, and Stranger Tides.
Zoya: Tracie
Orly: Viridian Vinyl
and Jordana Pop Art striper brushes in black and white.

Color Run 2012 New York

This past Saturday, I participated in the Color Run in New York. On their website the Color Run is described as "a unique experience focused less on speed and more on crazy color fun with friends and family. Color runners come from all different ages, shapes, sizes, and speeds; but everyone toeing the start line has a blast. Whether you are a casual morning mall walker or an Olympic athlete, the 3 miles of the Color Run course will be the most memorable and colorful run of your life!"

Of course, I had to do my nails for the occasion! I decided to base my design on this photo from their website.

I started with a white base, used black polish and a striper brush to create a path, and then used the splatter method with a straw to make the splashes of color.

For my right hand, i just used the splatter method, I'm not sure which hand i like better.

And here's a photo of my manicure after the run.

So. Much. Pink!

It was a lot of fun and I'll definitely be doing it again next year. Here is the Color Run website in case you're interested.

For this manicure I used Sally Hansen Whirlwind White, Color Club Chelsea Girl, China Glaze Happy Go Lucky, China Glaze Four Leaf Clover, China Glaze Make An Entrance, Zoya Arizona, and a black Jordana striper polish,

Heat it Up

Quick post for today just to show off the manicure I'll be sporting at the MixTape Festival.

I'm really excited to see 98 Degrees, I  haven't seen them for probably over ten years (which makes me sound old... I'm not that old, I promise). I decided to do some fiery-looking nails for the occasion so I recreated Chalkboard Nails' Surface on the Sun nails.

As always, I use this technique to create gradients and the polishes I used were China Glaze Happy Go Lucky, Zoya Arizona, and Pretty & Polished Phoenix.
