31DC2013 ROUND-UP!

Phew! The 31DC2013 is officially over. I've rounded up all my nail art for the challenge in this post (click on the photos to go to each one's individual post)

I always love seeing all of them together like this after the challenge is over.

I have to admit, the challenge this year was definitely more difficult for me than last year. I guess having two jobs and going to school and painting my nails every day was more difficult than I thought it would be.

Either way, I am very proud of what I've accomplished this year. Some of my favorite designs are the Orioles, pineapples, shark camo, tribal and Spirited Away, but I can honestly sit here and say I am proud of every single mani I did. SO very very glad it's over though.

31DC2013: Day 31 - Honor Nails You Love

Finally the final prompt!!! I'm so excited I could cry, but I'll probably just go to sleep instead haha :)

For this prompt I decided to recreate a mani that was posted by Magnifique Nails earlier today. While searching for a mani to recreate, I refreshed my blogger page and saw these and loved them so much I decided I didn't need to look any farther.

I changed up the color of the chevron a little bit, just used a lighter grey, but I really love this design.

She also did a tutorial, so make sure you check it out!

For these nails, I used China Glaze White On White as a base. I painted the chevron on with OPI Skull & Glossbones and then painted the triangular-ish shaped with OPI Pink Friday and OPI Mermaid Tears.

SO I must say, I am super happy this challenge is over. It was really difficult for me this year, but my goal is always to at least finish on time, and I did, so I feel really accomplished. I'm also proud of pretty much every manicure I did, even the five that I did just today.

Now to decided whether or not to do homework or nap for an hour and then do homework.... hmmm..

31DC2013: Day 30 - Inspired by a Tutorial

Surprisingly, I've never done a houndstooth design before, so I decided for this prompt I would find a tutorial and finally do one :)

I definitely need practice still, but overall I'm pretty happy with my first attempt.

I followed this tutorial on Flutter & Drum by 10 Blank Canvases.

I used OPI Mermaid Tears, OPI Planks A Lot, and OPI Sparrow Me The Drama as base colors and painted on the houndstooth design with China Glaze White On White.

Next time I take on this design, I will definitely make the squares smaller so I can fit more of the pattern on.

31DC2013: Day 29 - Inspired by the Supernatural

Last year for this prompt, I did werewolves, this year I decided to interpret this more as ghosts or spirits.

I decided to do my design based off of a Ouija Board. A Ouija Board, or Spirit Board, is a flat board covered in letters, numbers, as well as certain words like "yes" "no" and "goodbye" and is used to contact spirits. This is done by placing your hands on the planchette and asking questions and the spirit would then move the planchette to answer.

When I was younger and we would use it at sleepovers, I would always be the one who moved the planchette and made my group of friends believe we were actually in contact with spirits.

On my pointer finger, I have painted a planchette with Serum No. 5 Day Glow. I painted a pentagram on my thumb and 666 on the rest of my fingers.

Here's a photo of the planchette in the dark :)

31DC2013: Day 28 - Inspired by a Flag

It took me awhile to figure out what to do for this prompt. I wanted to do a fictional flag, more than an actual flag.

I decided to base my design off of the flags on the goal poles in mario.

I put the Bowser flag on my middle finger and the Mario flag on my ring. I then mimicked the brick on the bottom of the flag pole on the rest of my fingers.

This mani all kinds of makes me want to stop everything I've doing and start playing Super Mario for the Wii U.

31DC2013: Day 27 - Inspired by Artwork

Get ready for some nail spam because I am going to try to get all my nail art for the rest of the 31DC2013 in the next 20 minutes.

For this prompt, I honestly had no idea what to do, but I saw this artwork by Jenny Sharaf and fell in love.

I used China glaze White On White as a base and added black with Pure Ice Black Out. Then I added a pink circle with OPI Pink Friday. I topped it all off with Julep Matte Top Coat.

I think I will forever have a thing for pink, white, and black always.

31DC2013: Day 26 - Inspired by a Pattern

Today is technically the last day of the challenge. I have five more prompts to complete after this one. I'm not sure if I'll finish on time, between homework and work and OH I'M AN AUNT AS OF 10:08 THIS MORNING :)

It's been a very busy and happy day! I will probably do a few more prompts today, I doubt I'll do all of them but if I'm not finished today, I should definitely be finished tomorrow, and what's one extra day, right?

I'm not really sure what this pattern is called, if someone knows, let me know :)

But I like it, it's kind of tribal but not really at the same time.

To create this mani I painted vertical stripes using Zoya Mickey, Rocky, Darcy, and Josie. I then added the vertical and diagonal stripes with Pure Ice Black Out.
